The Galesburg Entrepreneurship Center (EC) has a range of services which include business planning, partner referrals, sales introductions, networking and financing referrals for small business start-ups and expansions. Normal office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Other appointments can be set at times more conducive to the clients time constraints. There is no cost for basic services and all consulting is done on a confidential basis.
SCORE: SCORE is a partner that the Entrepreneurship Center works with to provide more in depth consultation in different areas of expertise. The EC in Galesburg has a strong alliance with the Peoria, IL Chapter of SCORE and matches clients with their different members to help with business problems.
Other partners that work with The Galesburg Entrepreneurship Center include: Galesburg Chamber of Commerce; GREDA, City of Galesburg; Galesburg Downtown Council; Center for Manufacturing Excellence; Carl Sandburg College, Educational Technology Center; Business Technology Center; Illinois Small Business Development Center; Knox College, University of Illinois Extension; Workforce Investment Office; and Western Illinois University.
Procurement Technical Assistance Centers: Each year local, state and federal government agencies purchase products and commission a variety of services from small businesses. Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) can help your company learn about these lucrative opportunities. PTACs located at community colleges, universities, chambers of commerce, and business development organizations provide one-on-one counseling, technical information, marketing assistance and training.
International Trade Centers: Does your company's ambition extend beyond Illinois or even the Midwest? The ITCs provide information, counseling and training to existing, new-to-export Illinois companies interested in pursuing international trade opportunities. The NOCs provide specialized assistance to firms seeking to take advantage of trade opportunities in Mexico and Canada made possible by the North American Free Trade Agreement.
Illinois Manufacturing Extension Center: Is your manufacturing company in need of specialized assistance? The Illinois Manufacturing Extension Center supported by DCEO helps small and mid-sized manufacturers (less than 500 employees) to modernize, boost productivity and profits, and compete globally. IMEC's three regional centers and thirteen field offices employ over 30 full-time engineering, technology and business management professionals who serve as an extension of a smaller manufacturer's operations.
llinois Technology Enterprise Center: Many Illinois companies have come to rely on their IMEC project manager to help them solve a variety of operating problems. The services are diverse, ranging from crafting a new plant layout to improve material flow, to helping companies achieve ISO 9000 certification. In short, IMEC does whatever it takes to help smaller manufacturers modernize and succeed.
The ITEC is a management assistance/coaching program to help entrepreneurs and early stage companies develop clear paths to technology commercialization. The centers serve technology-based entrepreneurs, innovators and small businesses by assisting them with critical business startup and marketing needs. The regional centers, supported by DCEO, help entrepreneurs locate early stage financing, improve technical and/or managerial skills, offer introductions to sources of private equity and assists with new product development and marketing.

Galesburg Regional Network The economic development customer is the primary focus of the Galesburg Regional Network. This network includes local, regional, state and education training partners. Assistance is available with site selection and planning, workforce, procurement, business development, training and funding. Each partner in the Network fills a unique role in meeting these needs. |

Galesburg Regional Economic Development Association (GREDA) is the parent economic development entity. GREDA's emphasis is on structure for economic development, maintaining good business environments, marketing programs, and cooperation on the regional level. Call: 309-343-1194.

Carl Sandburg College is a public two-year community college that has served 10 counties in west central Illinois since 1966. The Main Campus in Galesburg offers four university transfer degrees and 47 degrees and certificates in occupational programs. The community outreach and customized training for area business is also offered at the Educational Technology Center (ETC) located at the Sandburg Mall. Call 309-344-1512. The Center for Manufacturing Excellence is dedicated to enhancing the competitiveness of local manufacturing companies. Its mission is to provide high quality industrial training for college students and the existing workforce. The Business and Technology Center has 8000 square feet dedicated to a small business incubator. The City of Galesburg provides economic development programs for investors with projects that retain and create jobs and increase and preserve the local tax base. The City provides incentives in the form of low-interest loans, tax abatement s, and grants through its TIF Districts, Enterprise Zones, Revolving Loan Funds and through its partners at the regional, state and federal level. The Galesburg Downtown Council focuses on the development of commercial space for a mixed use, including retail, housing, entertainment and restaurants. They provide financial assistance programs to foster aesthetic improvements to buildings in the Special Services Area. Call: 309-343-1194. |

The Chamber of Commerce is generally the initial point of customer contact for economic development and is responsible for referring clients to the organization(s) that can effectively meet their needs. The Chamber serves as the "Voice of Business," serving its members by enhancing the business climate and promoting and stimulating orderly economic growth throughout the Galesburg area.
